धनानि भूमौ पशवश्च गोष्ठे भार्या गृहद्वारि जनः श्मशाने। देहश्चितायां परलोकमागे कर्मानुगो गच्छति जीव एकः॥

4. English Meaning / आङ्ग्लार्थः
Wealth remains buried in the earth, cattle stay in the shed, the wife comes only up to the door of the house, and relatives accompany only till the cremation ground. The physical body is consumed on the pyre. On the path to the next world, the soul travels completely alone, followed only by its karma.

মৃত্যুর পর ধনসম্পদ মাটিতেই থেকে যায়, গৃহপালিত পশু গোষ্ঠেই থেকে যায়, স্ত্রী কেবল গৃহদ্বার পর্যন্তই আসে এবং আত্মীয়স্বজন শ্মশান পর্যন্ত অনুগমন করে। দেহ চিতায় ভস্মীভূত হয়। পরলোকের পথে কেবল একা জীবাত্মা গমন করে, আর সঙ্গী হয় তার জীবদ্দশায় করা কর্ম।

मृत्यु के बाद धन जमीन में रह जाता है, पशु गौशाले में रह जाते हैं, पत्नी घर के दरवाजे तक आती है और लोग (सगे-संबंधी) केवल श्मशान तक साथ देते हैं। शरीर चिता पर जल जाता है। परलोक के मार्ग में जीवात्मा केवल अपने कर्मों के साथ अकेला ही जाता है।

मरणानन्तरं धनं, पशवः, भार्या, बान्धवाः, शरीरं च सर्वमपि अत्रैव नश्वरसंसारे अवशिष्यते। परलोकयात्रायां तु जीवः एकाकी एव गच्छति, तस्य अनुसरणं केवलं तस्य कृतं कर्म (पापं पुण्यं वा) एव करोति।
