A highly intelligent and noble-minded person has only two states of existence, much like a beautiful cluster of flowers: He either sits proudly upon the heads of all people (honored by everyone), or he withers away silently in the forest (unseen by the crowd).

একটি সুন্দর ফুলের থোকার মতো অত্যন্ত আত্মমর্যাদাসম্পন্ন ও মনস্বী মানুষের কেবল দুটি অবস্থাই সম্ভব: হয় তিনি সকলের মাথার ওপরে (সম্মানিত স্থানে) বিরাজ করেন, অথবা বনের মধ্যেই নীরবে ঝরে পড়েন (অর্থাৎ অপমানের চেয়ে তিনি নির্জনতাই বেছে নেন)।

फूलों के गुच्छे के समान एक अत्यंत स्वाभिमानी और बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति की केवल दो ही स्थितियाँ होती हैं: या तो वह सभी लोगों के सिर पर (अत्यंत सम्मानित स्थान पर) विराजमान होता है, या फिर वह जंगल में ही चुपचाप मुरझा (झड़) जाता है।

पुष्पगुच्छस्य इव स्वाभिमानिनः महापुरुषस्य जीवनस्य द्वे एव गती भवतः। सः यावत् जीवति तावत् सर्वेषां मस्तकेषु (सर्वोच्चसम्मानीयपदे) विराजते। यदि तत् न सम्भवति तर्हि सः वने एव एकान्ते स्वजीवनं नाशयति, परन्तु नीचपदं न स्वीकरोति।
