One should never abandon dharma out of desire, fear, or greed, even for the sake of one's life. Dharma is eternal, while joy and sorrow are transient. The soul is eternal, but its physical cause (the body) is temporary.

কামনা, ভয় বা লোভের বশবর্তী হয়ে, এমনকী নিজের জীবনের বিনিময়েও কখনও ধর্ম ত্যাগ করা উচিত নয়। ধর্ম চিরন্তন, কিন্তু সুখ ও দুঃখ অস্থায়ী। আত্মা অবিনশ্বর, কিন্তু তার এই দেহের কারণ (অবিদ্যা বা শরীর) ক্ষণস্থায়ী।

मनुष्य को कभी भी कामना, भय या लोभ के कारण, यहाँ तक कि अपने प्राणों की रक्षा के लिए भी धर्म को नहीं छोड़ना चाहिए। धर्म सनातन है, जबकि सुख-दुख अनित्य हैं। जीवात्मा नित्य है, परन्तु इसका भौतिक कारण (शरीर) अनित्य है।
